Original leaflet from the publisher, giving details of Uncle Dick Wootton and his exploits in the southern states of America in the mid 19th century in cotton farming, as a wagoner, and fur trader, loosely laid in, together with an original, unused 'classics of the old west' ex libris bookplate. Wootton, who started out as a farmer became a venture capitalist, with his skills based in this knowledge of country and agricultural ways. A successful freighter, a stage-coach contractor, buffalo raiser and one time inn-keeper. He built his own toll road and made it pay.
