First edition, first impression,. 280pp, lavishly illustrated with magnificent full colour plates. In green cloth-covered boards, decorative head and tail band, colour illustrated endpapers. Square folio. In near fine condition throughout. In its original, illustrated dust jacket. Dust jacket, now protected in a Mylar-style wrapper, very slightly bumped on edges. After describing his working methods, Gillmor speaks of the inspiration behind the 90 prints of birds illustrated, evoking memories and wandering into autobiographical anecdotes and reflections on this artistic process. The final section demonstrates the use of linocuts for posters and dust jackets, especially those he designed for the prestigious New Naturalist series.
