xvi, 196pp, tissue-guarded frontispiece, engraved vignette on title page and complete with fold-out map. In blue cloth boards with gilt lettering front and spine. 12mo. Covers heavily worn, rubbed all round edges, rounded on corners, scuffed at spine head, lower half of backstrip absent, cloth rippled on rear pane, marked and stained. Text block edges and endpapers toned. Previous owner's name and gift inscription, dated 1878, inked on front free endpaper. Page margins aging, occasional faint spotting, the odd smudge mark, central signature a little loose. A copy in no better than fair condition but remains complete and readable. A good reference/working copy of this now scarce title. Richard Turrill McMullen recounts his sailing alone and the sea and psychological challenges he faced.
