Reissue. xxxii, 252pp. In red cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. Speckled text block edges. 8vo. Boards are well worn, rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, with some mild marks. Ex lending library with usual markings on endpapers, stamp opposite title page, light annotations on title and copyright page and call number on spine. Slip from Humphrey Milford bound in. Page corners rounding and a little faint and occasional foxing. A reissue of the one of the significant early modern works on demonology, thought to have been one of the sources for Shakespeare's Hamlet, with an introduction on the ghost scenes in Hamlet in the light of Elizabethan Spiritualism and appendix on the Catholic position in the Ghost Controversy of the 16th century. Hard to find title.
