xxiv, 128pp, with tissue-guarded frontispiece. In red cloth boards with blind embossed decoration and rules on front panel, gilt titles on spine. Top edge gilt. 16mo. Cloth a little faded, especially around spine, slightly rounded at corners and spine ends, lightly rubbed along top edge. Previous owner's name inked onto front free endpaper, hint of spotting on endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. A collection of poetry from the Canadian poet, Bliss Carman first published in 1904, with an introductory essay. Sappho, an Ancient Greek poet from the island of Lesbos has a reputation which has endured although most of her poetry has been lost. Carmen re-imagines that poetry from the small fragments of Sappho's work which remain.
