Volume II (of III) only. First edition. 348pp. Contemporary three quarters leather over marbled paper boards. Gilt lettering on black spine labels on spine, elaborate gilt decorations on spine. Marbled endpapers. 12mo. Boards rubbed and scuffed around edges, worn, with some paper scarring on panels. Top edge gilded, tarnished and faded, other edges toned and spotted. Armorial bookplate of Elizabeth Digby (perhaps the sister of the Tory politician John Benn-Walsh, Lord Ormathwaite) on front paste down. Some mild browning on first and last few leaves. Page 189/80, which is slightly offset, has some heavier spotting. Solid and robust.
