Volumes II and III (of three) only. 3rd edition. 330pp, 342pp. Volumes uniformly bound in three quarters red leather over marbled boards, gilt decorations and lettering spine. Top edge gilded, all other edges marbled. Marbled endpapers. 12mo. Boards are worn, quite heavily rubbed around edges and spine joints, rubbed and rounded on corners and spine ends, some chipping and shelf wear. Both volumes have the armorial bookplate of Elizabeth Digby on the front paste down. Internally some faint and occasional spotting, hinges cracked, else internally neat clean, bright and tight. Elizabeth Digby was likely the sister of John Benn-Walsh of Ormathwaite, the Tory politician (1798-1881).
