Arthur (Archie) Gayer was a rising star in the field of economic growth in the United States during the 1930s, espousing radical new approaches to the study and interpretation of economic history. Born in 1903 in Poona, British India he was educated at St Paul's School in London and then Lincoln College, Oxford, before becoming a Rockefeller Foundation Fellow at moving to the US. His promise was tragically cut off by his death in a car accident in 1951. This work, along with his Monetary Policy and Economic Stabilisation, represent his legacy to the development of economic history. Hard to find.
