In black buckram-covered boards with gilt decorations and lettering front and spine. Decorative endpapers. Loosely laid in is a 6pp, elegantly illustrated, leaflet from the publisher promoting the book and giving details of its publication and contents. 4to. . Cloth very slightly rounded at spine ends. Hint of smudging on lower text block edge. Small personal ownership bookplate of Frank Broomhead on front paste down. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. In its original printed glassine wrapper, which has gentle shelf wear and is slightly nicked at the spine head. A large, lavishly produced volume, handsome and imposing, celebrating and recording the wood engravings of Robert Gibbings; concludes with a useful list of the books illustrated by Gibbings.
