Undated but publication circa 1955.  256pp.  In blue  cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine.  12mo.  Two tape residue marks, top and bottom on front panel, one residue mark and small scar on cloth on rear panel, hint of discoluration on cloth edges.  Title page absent, and some tape residue marks on last page else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  Very slightly cocked. In its original illustrated dust jacket, lightly bumped at edges and a little shelf worn all over.   Period historlcal romance in which the spirited Sphia Gardner, after ten days of intrigue on one of Essex's marsh islands, has to decide whether to accept an offer of marriage under at midnight under and oak tree.
