First edition, first impression. 222pp, with colour plate frontispiece and line drawings in text. In red cloth-covered boards with black titles front and spine. 12mo. Cloth just a little rounded at spine base. Top text block edge a little dust darkened. Hint of toning on endpapers, else internally neat, clean and tight. In its original dust wrapper, lightly bumped at edges, some small mild spots on verso, a tad sunned over spine.
Dust wrapper now protected in an archival-quality Mylar sleeve fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.
Frank Richards was one of the many pen names of Charles Hamilton (1876-1961), one of the most popular and prolific authors of boy's school stories and long-running series stories featuring recurring characters. Perhaps best known for the Greyfriars School stories featuring Billy Bunter, he also created St Jim's School starring Tom Merry and Rockwood School, under the pen name Owen Conquest.
