1st thus. 238pp plus numerous colour and black and white plate illustrations.  In black cloth boards with gilt lettering on the front and spine.  Illustrated red endpapers.  8vo.  Cloth very gently rounded at corners and spine ends.  Top text block edge a little dust marked.  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original illustrated and laminated dust wrapper, just gently bumped on extreme ends and a tad rubbed on the upper leading corner. 

A definitive travel book on Japan, an introduction to its culture and geography and a patchwork approach to the country's history.
