Royal Illustrated History of Eastern England, Civil Military, Political and Ecclesiastical, from the Earliest Times to the Present Time (Volumes I & II)

Undated but circa 1870.  Complete in two volumes.  Volume L: viii, 608pp, with illustrated frontispiece, numerous further plate illustrations, illustrated chapter headpiece.  Volume II:  xiv, 624pp, with illustrated plate frontispiece and further monochrome plate illustrations.  Both volumes uniformly bound in half burgendy leather over green cloth-covered boards, five raised bands on spine, gilt decorations and gilt titles on red leather spine label.  All edges speckled.  Deep green endpapers.  8vo.  Covers of both volumes a little worn, rubbed and rounded on corners, a little scuffed over spines and some mild marks.  Volume I shows a little external water damage which has rippled the upper quarter of the cloth on the front panel and darkened the leather at the spine head.  Internally volume one has a short crack at the top of the front hinge and both volumes have a toned strip at the edge of the free endpapers,  some faint and occasional spotting on first and last few leaves else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  A handsome and imposing set.
