Colour Plates from Examples of Ornament, Selected Chiefly from Works of Art in the British Museum, The Museum of Economic Geology, The Museum of Ornamental Art in Marlborough House and the New Crystal Palace

A selection of loose colour plates, with interleafed text pages, taken from the 1855 publication, Examples of Ornament, Selected Chiefly from Works of Art in the British Museum, The Museum of Economic Geology, The Museum of Ornamental Art in Marlborough House and the New Crystal Palace, edited by Joseph Cundall [Bell and Daldy, London, 1855].  Six colour plates, each preceded by a single printed sheet listing the illustrations on each plate and noting their source.  Small folio (approximately 10 by 13 inches).  Leaves a little toned at edges and with some gentle edge wear and rubbed on corners with the occasional corner crease (not affecting images).

The plates are (1 & 2) Pompeian, derived from the large work by Zahn, Ornaments of All Ages of Classic [sic] Art; (3) Alhambresque, from the Court of the Fountain of Lions and the Hall of Justice in the Alhambra, drawn from the Restoration by Mr Owen Jones at the Crystal Palace; (4 & 5) Indian, portions of a Purdah for a Audience Hall and from Enamelled Metal and Lacquer wprl in Marlborough House; and (6) Persian, from manuscripts in the British Museum.
