A lovely set containing the poems and prose writing of the Preston-born Francis Thompson. Thompson (1859-1907) was a poet and Catholic mystic. Medically trained he abandoned his profession to pursue writing, ending up a homeless opium addict on the streets of London. He was rescued by an elderly couple enamored with his poetry, who encouraged him to publish.
