A semi-fictionalised account of the life of Mary Russell Mitford (1787-1855) told in novel form.  Mitford, an Englist essayist, poet and writer is perhaps best remembered for Our Village, a series of sketches of village life drawn from her experiences of living in Three Mile Cross near Reading, Berkshire.
