First edition, first impression. 144pp, with occasional line drawings in text. Deep green cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on the spine. Publisher's review slip and compliment's slip from the managing direction loosely laid in. 8vo. Cloth very slightly pushed at spine tips else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. Dust wrapper a little bumped on extreme edges.
A short novel written by Beryl Bainbridge between June and August 1946, when she was just 13 years old. The tattered manuscript was found much later and is here published for the first time, together with Bainbridge's illustrations.
