Eric, or Little by Little, first published in 1858, was one of the earliest and most famous boy's school stories, telling of Eric Williams' time at Roslyn School.  Out of print for many years, here is a facsimile reproduction of the original 1858 edition, together with Ian Anstruther's critical analysis explaining the genesis and impact of the book, with relevant context and biographical information.
