New, revised edition. With borders and ornamental vignettes by Owen Jones (best known for his Ornament of Grammer). With a biographical sketch of J G Lockhart. Unpaginated. Decorations or illustrations on every page, the setting and decoration of each ballad being specifically designed by various artists. Numerous full page, semi-illuminated designs by Owen Jones. Red cloth boards with gilt ruling and lettering (a little rubbed on edges, especially around spine joints, and rounded at corners and spine ends, mildly soiled with a couple of tiny marks). Previous owner's inscription on slightly warped front endpaper, as well a tiny bookseller's ticket (indicating that the book was once in the stock of M Ogle and Son, booksellers in Exchange Square, Glasgow. Some spotting affecting first and last few pages, else internally fresh, clean and tidy. Binding remains strong and square. A collection of some 80 historical, Moorish, and romantic Spanish ballads. A beautiful book.
