The fourth volume of an eight volume set resulting from the largest county survey undertaken to date by the English Place-Name Society, this present volume deals with the place-names of the region lying between the Aire and the Wharfe from the Ouse in the east to the borders of Craven in the west, as well as low-lying land of Ainsty between the Wharfe and the Nidd up to the gates of York. The principal towns are Selby, Leeds, Bingley, Otley, Ilkley and Tadcaster.
