xxiv, 455, [1], 16 (the last 16pp section is the publisher's catalogue). Bound in deep green cloth with gilt lettering and decorations on spine. Coloured endpapers. Top edge gilt. Engraved frontispiece, showing a portrait of Sterne, after the painting by Joshua Reynolds. Extra, illustrated title page. Large 8vo. Boards are a little worn at edges with some flat mottling, lightly fraying at spine tips. Internally, barring a little toning on first and last few pages and some spotting on text block edges, the volume is clean, neat, bright and tight.
