442pp with numerous illustrations and page decorations, all by T H Robinson. Title page (and some others) printed in red and black. Tissue-guarded frontispiece showing Sterne, from a portrait by Joshua Reynolds. In decorated cloth boards with gilt lettering. Deckled edges. Boards a little worn, rounded at corners and heavily sunned on spine. Endpapers a little tanned, with signs of removal of a bookplate on the front paste down. Previous owner's name on half title page. Nice, vintage volume of this classic work.
