Undated but likely 1949. A new, revised edition. xvii, 1680pp, 14pp advertisements in rear. 16 colour plates and nearly 350 illustrations. Quarter bound in red waxed buckram over pale green cloth-covered boards, green titles and design on spine. 8vo. Boards are strong, square and clean, just a little rounded on corners and slightly rubbed at spine ends, some mild soiling around upper leading corner which also affect the top portion of front endpapers. Previous owner's name on free end paper and hint of spotting on prelims and last few pages, else neat, clean, bright and tight internally. Binding tight for such a thick volume. A remarkably fresh and attractive volume.
