Not dated but circa 1920 (preface dated 1921). In green cloth boards with gilt decoration and lettering (worn, a little rubbed at edges, rounded on corners and spine tips). Text block edges a little darkened. Previous owner's inscription, dated 1937, on the front free endpaper, together with a stamp stating 'Beckworth', else internally clean and bright. A little softening. 8vo. Vice-Admiral Evans was a member of Scott's last polar expedition; his book, written some nine years after the British Antarctic Expedition of 1910, puts as much emphasis on the expedition's scientific programme and achievements as on the attempt to reach the South Pole.
