418pp. Quarter bound in deep blue leather over blue cloth boards, gilded school (West Ham High School) on front panel, gilt titles on spine. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Tissue-guarded frontispiece and elaborate, black and red title page. 12mo. Leather is rubbed on corners, spine ends and joints, with scar in leather on verso, casing worn all over. Prize presentation plate on front paste down indicating the volume was presented Elsie Grassman in 1918, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. A lovely vintage volume of this classic 19th century novel.
