1st edition. 208pp with 12 full page illustrations and five tail pieces. In brown cloth boards with titles on spine. Top edge sprayed black. 12mo. Boards gently rubbed at corners and spine ends, with some age discolouration along upper edge. Faint, occasional spotting, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. In its original glassine wrapper and dust jacket (jacket is heavily worn, marked and tanned, rubbed and chipped at edges, split along spine with some loss. With an introduction by Gerald Barry, setting a context for Welby's reminiscences of a life time as a journalist in British India in the latter part of the 19th century and the early years of the 20th century.
