xvi, 688pp, 64 black and white photographic plates. Brown cloth-covered boards; black design on boards, black titles on spine. 12o. Sun-faded spine. Rubbed spine ends; cloth torn. Rubbed corners; cloth wearing through. Shelf wear and light staining to boards; quite cocked. Top text block edge dusty, remaining edges tanning. Gutter stretched in a couple of places, volume still quite tight. One plate almost detached. Internally neat, clean, bright and tight. Biography of one of the greatest English architects of all time, who as well as designing St. Pauls Cathedral, was a founder member of the Royal Society.
