ix, [3], 370pp, map on frontispiece. Orange cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. 8vo. Cloth covers worn and rubbed, right through at corners, fraying at ends of cracked and flapping backstrip, some marks and tape residue on cloth. Text block edges soiled and marked. Ex lending library with library markings and lending sheet on front endpapers. Gutter cracked ahead of half title. Page edges softened. Extensive marginal annotations and some underlining, mostly in pencil, throughout volume and on rear endpapers. This is not a pretty copy, but it will serve as a very good reading/reference copy of this important and now hard to find work on slavery and Caribbean society in the 18th century.
