Complete in two volumes.  Volume One: xvi, 1-518pp, monochrome plate frontispiece, further black and white plate illustrations and numerous drawings in text, complete with two large folding coloured maps in pocket at rear.  Volume Two:  xvi, 1-540pp, with monochrome plate frontispiece, further monochrome plate illustrations and many drawings in text, complete with two folding coloured maps (one much larger than the other) in pocket at rear.  Both volumes uniformly bound in green buckram, decorated, with gilt letteirng front and spine.  Brown endpapers.  Large 8vo.  Volume One  is heavily rubbed at edges, with some mottling and markings on cloth, fraying at spine head and minor loss at spine base.  Front hinge heavily cracked, title page detached.  A little loose.  Some faint and occasional spotting on prelims.  Volume Two is moderately rubbed on edges and hinges, with a few mild marks on cloth.  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight barring a hint of toning on early pages.  Volume One is in fair condition only, volume two is in very good condition.  Explorer Stanley's own account of his final African adventure, an 1888 expediation he led to come to the aid of Mehmed Emin Pasha, the Ottoman physian and naturalist and Governor of the Egyptian province of Equatoria on the Upper Nile.
