First edition, first edition. 208pp, with monchrome plate frontispiece (of John Landy) and further black and white plate illustrations. In lavender cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine. Signed and inscribed by the author on the first blank leaf. 8vo. Cloth gently rubbed and rounded at corners and spine tips else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout. Prize presentation plate on front paste down indicating that the volume was presented by the South London Harriers Club for 2nd place in a 10 mile race in 1956. In its original worn dust wrapper, a little rubbed at edges, minor loss at spine tips, sunned over spine.
