1st edition, 2nd impression. x, 272pp plus 2pp of publishers adverts bound in at rear. Red cloth covered boards with gilt elephant and author's insignia motif centre front. Good ++ condition. Boards a little rubbed at edges and corners and slightly faded. Text block edges a little grubby. Internally occasional spotting, especially on endpapers, and pencil part on page ix. Clean, tight and square, making for a nice solid and robust if not special copy. Please note: this is a first edition, second printing. The 2nd printing took place in the same year, 1899, as the first.
