First edition. viii, 193pp [9]pp. Bound in full calf's leather, red and black spine labels with gilt stamped titles, gilt rules. 8vo. Leather is worn, discoloured at edges, rubbed and rounding at corners and spine ends, partial cracking on joints and scuffed on spine and verso. University library stamp on front paste down, no other library markings. Front hinge cracked. First and last few leaves appear to have sustained some water damage, resulting in some staining, marks and mild page warping (now inert), else internally neat, clean and tight. This volume contains a substantial history of Europe, Chronicles of Births, Marriage and Deaths etc in 1779, a selection of State Papers issued during the year, Accounts of characters who rose to prominence, Accounts of Natural History, including the cure of St Vitus's Dance by Electricity and An Account of the Island of St Miguel, Useful Projects, Antiquities, Essays, Poetry and Account of Books for 1779.
